SUP short history
The SUP, standing surfboard with paddle, is a surface water sport, a variant of the surf where the athlete uses a paddle to move while standing on a surfboard.
The surf standing on a table is a derivation from the Polynesian tradition.
In the Hawaiian language it is defined as: standing, paddling, surfing, a wave.
The popularity of the modern version of the SUP has its origin in the Hawaiian islands and grew when Hawaiian surfers started using SUP as an alternative for training.
SUP USAGE BENEFITS
SUP offers intense training for the musculature complex.
Balance and strength will be used to remain stable on the table.
The leg and abdominal muscles will participate in the overall effort to maintain balance.
The paddle will exercise the muscles of the upper body, the intensity of this exercise will be directly proportional to the state of the water, a greater presence of waves will increase the applied force.
This low impact exercise will give immediate benefits to the paddler quickly.
Like any sport with low impact the whole body will enjoy the benefits and the experience made on the surface of the water will give relief for stress, tensions giving a benefit to the mental state that can be further increased by performing yoga exercises or gym sessions on table.
